The family of the late Wayne Ballhorn age 76 beloved husband of Cheryl Lynn of Yorkton, SK sadly announce his passing on Saturday November 6, 2021 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
With heavy hearts, the families of Wayne Franklin Ballhorn announce the passing of their father and grandfather.
Wayne was born in Wetaskiwin, AB, on March 22, 1945, and passed away on November 6th, 2021. Wayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn of Yorkton; Children, Roberta (Trevor) Purdie of Red Deer, Michael (Sara) Ballhorn, Colleen (Larry) Sonnenberg, and Tom (Erin) Ballhorn, all of Wetaskiwin, AB; Also, leaving behind nine grandchildren. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Bette Ballhorn, and grandson, Trey Purdie.
Wayne spent his childhood growing up on the family farm southeast of Wetaskiwin. He went on to attend Olds College, achieving an education in agriculture and farm management. He met Lynn Smith of High River, AB they were married on July 27, 1968. Together they started life, raising four children. Wayne was an active volunteer of the Rosebriar 4-H club as a parent and leader for many years. He loved sharing his knowledge of livestock.
Wayne continued farming for many years in the Angus Ridge community and enjoyed the company of many lifelong friends. His last 15 years were spent farming in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
Wayne also spent many winters enjoying the sunshine and company of many friends in Florida.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the ICU and Surgery Ward of The Yorkton Health Centre.
A private family memorial service will take place.
