Valentine 'Bill' Frank Schuster

SCHUSTER, Valentine Frank “Bill” passed away on May 13, 2023, at 82 years of age. Bill was born in Saltcoats on September 27, 1940, to Nicholas Sr. and Magdalena Schuster. He was the youngest of four children. Bill attended Perley School before beginning to farm in the Perley district. He married his dear wife, Alice Hnatuik, on November 16, 1963, in Bredenbury. They spent almost 60 years married and had four children: Sherry (Bob), Rob (Janice), Ron (Kim), and Cori (Peter). Bill was an avid farmer, hunted and fished, and lived on the farm his whole life.

Bill and Alice were blessed with nine grandchildren: Jared (Brooklyn), Maddie, Evan, Aidan, Eric, Eliot, Megan, Nicholas, Jacob; and one great-grandchild: Luka.

Bill is pre-deceased by his parents, sisters Eva and Margaret, brother Nicholas Jr., and parents-in-law Metro and Dora; and survived by his wife Alice, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Bill farmed for most of his life, and worked for the CP Railway for 16 years. Family was everything for Bill. He will be remembered for his kindness, his love of the land and animals, and always being there with a helping hand. Whether it was to move (again!) his kid’s belongings, help renovate a home, help round up stray cattle, combine a neighbour’s field, or plant a garden, he would drop everything to help as much as he could. Bill and Alice spent as much time as possible with their kids and grandchildren, including annual trips to Alabama. He always enjoyed playing cards, beating his grandkids in Crib, and visiting with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In keeping with Bills wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in his honour on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm, at Christie's Funeral Home (121 Palliser Way, Yorkton, SK).
