Twyla was the first child born to Herman and Erna (Ens) Goertzen on February 6, 1979 in Saskatoon, SK.
In 1989, the family which had grown to four children, relocated to Swan Plain to the Goertzen family farm. Twyla was a very loving person and was deeply protective of her siblings. Twyla had a deep love and passion for children and when her parents began fostering, it became a burning passion.
After Twyla graduated from high school in Norquay, SK she went on to attend Covenant Bible College in Strathmore, AB. She also went on a mission trip to Manilla, in the Philippines, which she frequently talked about.
In October 1999, Twyla’s world was scattered when her best friend, along with his entire family was killed in a car accident. Twyla struggled for quite some time after that.
After a brief stay and employment as a nanny in Winnipeg, MB Twyla returned to Saskatchewan and worked at The Chalet restaurant and The York House both in Yorkton. Twyla met David when she worked at The York House. After that the relationship blossomed and they were married on September 22, 2012.
It was then that Twyla became a step mom to Jaydin, she loved being a mom. Some of her favorite past times with her family included camping, quading and fishing. She also was gifted with a green thumb and she loved to garden and look after her house plants. David and Twyla eventually made Ebenezer their home.
Twyla returned to her passion for kids and took training in a play therapy program for kids. Twyla worked with the Kids First Program for a number of years and then moved to a role as a child protection worker with the Ministry of Social Services. Working in that environment did not help feed her passion to help kids. She then took the position of an adoption worker for the Yorkton region. This was truly fulfilling for Twyla; to be able to give children their forever home with a happy ending gave her immense satisfaction.
Twyla had a very strong faith and a love for her Saviour; she was ushered into His loving arms on November 1, 2021 shortly after 3:00 p.m. at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.
Twyla was predeceased by her Grandmothers Helen Ens and Margaret Goertzen; her Grandfather John Goertzen; nephew’s Casey King and Kelly Simon; and stepfather -in-law Richard Mezaros. Twyla is survived by her husband David and step-son Jaydin; her parents Herman and Erna; brother Jason (Ashley), nieces Shayla, Jordana and Lexi; sister Pamela( fiancé Shaun), niece and God –daughter Janessa; brother Tim (fiancé Darcie); sister McKayla, brother Shanden, mother-in-law Terry, father-in-law John (Jenn), sister-in-law Ang nieces Haley and Mia nephew Logan, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
