Tony Kryski Obituary

Tony Magdole Kryski
May 25, 1942 ~ August 6, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather Tony Magdole Kryski on August 6, 2024 at the age of 82.

Tony Magdole was born on May 25, 1942 on the family farm, 1 mile east and 3 miles north of Hamton, SK.  The youngest of six children, Tony spent his early years on the family farm.  He went to a one room school, grades 1-9. Tony enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, gymnastics and dancing in his late teens and early twenties.  He also enjoyed deer hunting in his spare time.  Tony was a self-taught musician, he learned to play the violin and guitar.  Tony started a band with John Krochak called the Drifting Country Boys and recorded a record.  He then started working on the family farm and eventually took over the farm.

On August 6, 1966 Tony married Darleene in Mikado, SK, at the St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church. Tony and Darleene had four children: Anthony, Daniel, Bernadette and Curtis.

Tony soon realized he enjoyed working with heavy equipment and on highway construction.  Tony worked for Renton & Deets Construction from Calgary, AB.  He helped to build Highway 5 from Yorkton, SK to Canora, SK and Trans Canada #1 from Swift Current, SK to Medine Hat, AB.  Tony worked as a grader operator in the R.M. Sliding Hills and R.M. of Good Lake doing road maintenance, snow removal, and road building.

Tony and Darleene moved to Yorkton, SK in the fall of 1988.  At that time Tony worked for Potzus Construction.  He then worked for Doug Johnston Construction at the Mosaic Mine in Bell Plaine, SK doing road maintenance and snow removal. In the fall of 1998 Tony & Darleene moved to Moose Jaw, SK.  In the fall of 2007, they moved back to an acreage in the R.M. of Orkney, SK.

Tony was predeceased by his son Curtis in 2005; his parents Paul and Helen Kryski; Sisters Virgina (Edward) Zielinski, Elsie (Mike) Zielinski; and brothers Walter, Paul and Gilbert.

Tony is survived by his wife Darleene; daughter Bernadette (Garvin) Harasen; two sons Daniel and Anthony (Stephanie); grandchild Sabrina (Lucas); great-grandchild Mia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Prayers will be held Sunday, August 11 at 7:00 pm from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton.  Funeral Mass will follow Monday, August 12 at 10:00 am with Reverend Father Sathiadas Antony officiating and accompanist Chris Fisher.  Interment to follow at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers are Greg Podovinnikoff, Martin Leis, Steven Monich, Trevor Fofonoff, Stacey McCallum, and Ken Kryski.
