It is with deep sadness that the family of Tina Jewel Nesbitt, announce her passing on March 28, 2024 at the Theodore Nursing Home.
Tina and her twin sister, Nina were the ninth and tenth in the family of 13 children, born to Herbert and Cordelia (nee Birchill) Gorrell. The youngest children went into foster care after the passing of their father. In 1935, the twin girls were taken in and fostered by Mary and Joseph Underwood, where they were loved and raised as their own children. They resided on the farm in the Clonmel area, near Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. Tina attended school at Meadowvale and then moved to Yorkton with the Underwoods when they retired from the farm due to Joe’s failing health.
Tina found a job at the Yorkton hospital as a nursing aid where she was employed until she married Albert Nesbitt on October 24, 1953. Tina moved to the farm in the Willowbrook area with Albert and began her life as a farmer’s wife and raised three children; Connie, Allan, and Merla there until they retired to Yorkton in 1988. After Alberts passing in 1999, Tina moved to Fisher Court where she resided very happily enjoying the social life there; playing cribbage and shuffleboard regularly. She enjoyed travelling with her sister, making many trips to British Columbia visiting family.
In later years as her health declined, she was forced to move into long-term care in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home where she lived until 2022 when she moved to Theodore Care Home to be closer to family. She resided there comfortably until her passing.
Tina leaves to her mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her three children; Connie Kozak (Barry), Allan Nesbitt (Connie), and Merla Lenuik (Rod); eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Tina was predeceased by her birth parents, Herbert and Cordelia Gorrell; by her foster parents, Mary and Joseph Underwood; her husband of 46 years Albert; her daughter Susan (in infancy); five sisters; seven brothers and her grandson, Wayne Kozak.
Tina was a loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who looked forward to the visits from her family to brighten her days. She will be greatly missed.
We wish to express our appreciation to the staff of the nursing home for the patient care that Tina received while residing there.
