Theresa "Tessie" Burkatsky

The family of Theresa Burkatsky sadly announces her passing at the age of 76 years.

Theresa spent her early years near Hubbard with her grandmother and aunt and then later moved to Rama.  She married Lorne Burkatsky, her lifelong partner, and together they raised five children on the farm near Hazel Dell. 

Theresa devoted her life to her family, her home, and the farm. She took pride in her yard and garden, ensuring trees, hedges and flowers were always cared for with precision and attention. She was a skilled cook and baker.  Her family enjoyed her baked treats, perogies, cabbage rolls, and garden vegetables.  She always made sure everyone was well fed.

As a farm wife, Theresa cared for cattle and contributed to the operation of the farm through all seasons. She also had a love for nature - tending to her gardens while keeping an eye on the  hummingbirds, orioles, and purple martins in the yard.

Theresa’s life was marked by dedication and hard work.  She will be remembered by her family for her practicality, sarcastic humour and quiet love for her family.  

Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband Lorne.  Left to remember her are her children- Bridget (Tony) Elliott, Anthony(Lilian) & Eric; Christine (Kevin) Antonichuk, Matthew; Mark, (Kate), Ava, Ben & Sean; John, (Christeen), Nikolas, Jakob, Luke, Anisja & Liliya; and Ginny (Brad) Walker.

A private family graveside service was held at the Hazel Dell Cemetery.
