Sandra Kerr Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra Kerr, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on June 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 9, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sandra was the cherished only daughter of Walter and Millicent Hebron. In 1956, the family moved to Saltcoats, Saskatchewan, where Walter took on the role of manager at North American Lumber yard, setting the stage for a life filled with community and connection.

In 1967, Sandra met her soulmate, Gordon "Bongo" Kerr, a charismatic young man who would become her partner in life and love. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming son Greg and daughter Cory and later, four adoring grandchildren. The family thrived in the warmth of small-town Saskatchewan, where they created lasting memories through camping trips, fishing adventures, and cheering on their children in ball, hockey, and figure skating.

Sandra's spirit of service shone brightly as she dedicated herself to her community. As her children grew, she embraced numerous volunteer opportunities, contributing her time and energy to local museums, libraries, multicultural, recreation programs, and the Anglican Church. Her unwavering commitment to helping others earned her the respect and admiration of many, culminating in the honor of receiving the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013 and the Queen’s Sovereign Volunteer Medal in 2021—recognitions she received with humility and gratitude.

In 2011, Sandra faced her first cancer diagnosis, embarking on a courageous journey as a cancer warrior for 14 years. Her strength and resilience inspired all who knew her, and she continued to fight valiantly until her final treatment in the fall of 2024. Sandra's spirit remained unbroken, and her love for her family and community never wavered.

Sandra is survived by her sons, Greg (Rhonda) and Cory; brother Brian and Family; along with her grandchildren Kennedy (Andrew), Alex, Kelly, and Chris. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her laughter, warmth, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
