Rosie Jacob Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Rose Jacob announce her passing on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 94 years of age.

Rose was born on March 1, 1930 on the family farm in the Jedburgh District. She was the youngest of her four siblings. She attended school at Maxwelton School. On October 15, 1950, Rose was united in marriage to Gabriel Jacob. The couple took over the Jacob family farm in the RM of Garry, where they resided and farmed until they retired to Yorkton in 1987. Through their 54 years of marriage, Gabriel and Rose raised three children and Rose was blessed with four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Rose was a daughter, sister, mother, farm wife, grandmother (or granny as she was sometimes called) and a great-grandmother. Every summer, she planted a huge garden and was constantly canning. She kept herself busy baking, sewing, crocheting, and helping with farm work. Rose was a strong and very independent woman, always taking care of things by herself. The last few years, her ability to walk would frustrate her because that would mean her asking her family to help her with everyday things. Rose enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of them all.

After Gabriel’s passing on October 21, 2004, Rose continued to live in their home for four more years, then moved to Fisher Court in 2008, where she enjoyed the remainder of her years playing cards, bingo, shuffleboard and making friends with the other tenants living there.

Rose is predeceased by her husband; Gabriel, and son; Gerald. Her parents; Mike and Tanya Gamracy, her in-laws; John and Sophie Jacob, her siblings; Mary (Roy) Ross, John (Maxine) Gamracy, Victoria (Zenon) Sadowsky, Frank Gamracy, her sisters-in-law; Rose (Mike) Panchuk, Esther (Alex) Hull.

Rose leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter-in-law; Bernadette of Saskatchewan Beach, James (Stacey) of Regina, Jackie (Paul) of Regina, her son; Bruce (LeaAnne) of Shaunavon, Travis (Lori) of Saskatoon, Curtis (Nikolina) of Shaunavon, her daughter; Sharon (Chris) of Yorkton, her great-grandchildren; Gabriel, Brooklyn, Hayden, Ethan, Kale, Vincent, Dawson, Walker, Brandt, and Kohen, as well as sister-in-law; Clara Gamracy and many nieces and nephews.
