Rose Marlatt passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre surrounded by her family, she was 83 years old.
Rose was born on the family farm outside of Prelate, SK on May 29, 1940. She met the love of her life, Jack Marlatt, they married December 29, 1958. They were blessed with four children; Benita, Robert, Janice, and Ruth.
Rose’s career started as a telephone operator in Sceptre, SK. She was very proud of her time, connecting people by the pull of a telephone cord.
Rose and family moved to Churchbridge, SK in 1966. Being community minded, Rose was involved in many activities. She worked the kitchens of the skating and curling rinks as well as the ball diamonds. Organizing rides for players to scorekeeping to finding billet families for out-of-town players.
Rose was an amazing cook, baker, knitter, and crocheter. Her real joy was creating, the most beautiful sweaters, blankets, mitts, and toques with her gentle hands. All her grandchildren and great grandchildren received many of these cherished items. So much love went into every stitch.
Rose had the biggest heart and the most gentle soul. She would leave a lasting impression on all those she met. She was loved beyond measure, and will be missed forever.
Rose was predeceased by her husband Jack; grandson Bradley; parents Remiquis and Euphemia Rissling; brothers Anthony and Joseph; sisters Amelia and Tillie; Niece Kathleen; as well as her in-laws.
Rose is survived by her four children Benita (Andy) Lauer, Robert (Maggie) Marlatt, Janice (Dwayne) Hussey, and Ruth (Martin) Lisitza; Jack’s brother, Ernest (Shirley) Marlatt; her sister-in-law Betty; 12 grandchildren and spouses; 24 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
