Ronald Robert Poppenheim was born May 29, 1948 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Emmanuel and Martha (Robertus) Poppenheim.
Ron always had a passion for farm life. He would always tell the stories about going to school with horse and sleigh or the van. As a young boy he was usually with his grandpa doing tasks or just feeding the animals.
Ron attended various country schools; Glasgow, Clyde, and Stornoway where he made many friends. Recess was his best subject. Ron found various jobs around the area where he could help with cattle, pick stones, and helping his mom and stepfather on the family farm.
Ron was hired to work for Sam Oystrick near Rhein and it was Rhein where he met the love of his life, Judith (Judy) Schaan. They were going to be wedding attendance in a wedding party. On June 12, 1971, Ron and Judy married in MacNutt, SK. This union was blessed with three sons; Jeffrey, Neil, and Jason.
Ron and his family moved to Togo, SK in 1972 where he worked for the RKG Ranch for eight years. Then moved to Wynyard to work for the feedlot. It was October 1980 where Ron made the final move to farm the family farm. He enjoyed farming and cattle. In 1992, Ron worked at Morris Industries and times he would help out a good friend near Rhein with harvest.
Ron loved life. He liked to spend time at the table discussing farming with his boys and was proud of their accomplishments. He loved family gatherings when the grandchildren and great grandchildren came. He was so proud of all of them. Ron, loved to socialize, having coffee or playing cards. Ron resided in the Yorkton District Nursing Home.
Ron was predeceased by his mother (Martha) and stepfather Jacob Mehling. Grandparents George and Mary Robertus, nephew Ward Allen Oystrick, and niece Loretta Glute.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his loving wife, Judith, sons; Jeffrey (Lisa) of Stornoway, SK, Neil (Karen) of Yorkton, SK, Jason (Collin) of Saskatoon, SK. Grandchildren; Kelsey (Matt) Nordal of Stornoway, SK, Cody (Allison) Poppenheim of Ebenezer, SK. Great grandchildren; Maximus, Niko, and Lilly Nordal, Jaicee and Jersey Poppenheim. Sisters; Sylvia (Lorne) Ruf of Yorkton, SK and Joy (Alex) Oystrick of Yorkton, SK. Sister-in-laws; Shirley (Henry) Spilchen of Yorkton, SK, Elizabeth Boychuk of Edmonton, AB, Rose Schaan of Kamsack, SK. Brother-in-law Calvin Schaan of Langenburg, SK. Aunt Marie (Alfred) Hintz of Winnipeg, MB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
