Muriel Eisner Obituary

Muriel Irene Eisner passed away peacefully at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home on June 16, 2024 at the age of 100.

Muriel was born March 12, 1924 on the family farm near Wroxton, SK. She was the first daughter born to Otto and Molly (nee Pfeifer) Thies. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Muriel was raised on the family farm and attended Brandon School in the area. She completed a business course at Dominion Business College in Winnipeg after which she was employed for several years in the office at Kendall Motors in Kamsack.

On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Dave Eisner. Following their marriage Muriel and Dave farmed at Togo raising their three children.

Muriel enjoyed being a homemaker and a farmers’ wife. Whether it was driving the grain truck or making meals she was in her happy place. She was an expert bread maker –  a testament to her bread making skills, one woman attended her auction only aiming to buy her big bread dough mixing pan! She enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting. She had a real passion for gardening. When growing season rolled around you would often find her outside tending to her beautiful flowers and garden.

She was an active member of the community. Over the years she volunteered wherever help was needed. Whether it was the home and school organization, elections, helping someone in need, or making hot chocolate at the skating rink she was there to help.

She had a strong Christian faith. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Togo where she was active in the Lutheran Ladies League and taught Sunday School and VBS in her earlier years.

In October 2006, some years after Dave died she took a giant leap of faith and moved to Yorkton. She enjoyed her seniors apartment and the large new family of residents and attending local concerts.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Upon moving to Yorkton she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League.

Muriel is survived by her daughter Donna of Edmonton; two sons, Darwin (Kathy) of Lake Country, Brian (Brenda) of Yorkton; brother Leslie of Yorkton;  grandchildren Dean (Chantelle), Nicholas (Kelly), Derek (Florence), Amanda (Richard) Brindley, Jake, Cheryl (Dave) Kister, Jeff (Pam) Marflett, Andrea (Karl) Doerkson; great grandchildren Jager, Logan, Ryker, Sawyer, Nicholas, Evan, Ben, Kate, Tessa and Molly.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband Dave (2002); her parents Otto and Molly; two brothers Victor and Ivan in infancy; twin sisters Edna and Esther; brother in laws Walter Pippus and Dave Melnick; sister in law Olga Thies; and daughter in law Marilyn Eisner.
