November 24, 1941 Mike was born on a farm west of Insinger, Sask. Shortly after the family
moved to a farm east of Insinger where he attended a country school Lysenko and completed
his education at Theodore Sask.
After completing his grade 12 Mike ventured into the world and was employed at many jobs,
He worked on a dairy farm, in the forest industry as a lumberjack, he picked tobacco, he even
tried being a salesman selling light bulbs which was the only thing he didn't excel in,
He finally settled in Windsor Ontario where he became a machinist in the tool and die industry. It
was here where he realized his love for farming. He purchased land in the community of St
Joachim Ontario where he lived and farmed for over forty years. He enjoyed sharing the
challenges ( picking weeds) and the rewards ( the bountiful crops of soybeans and corn) of
farming in Ontario.
Mike enjoyed passing time fishing , listening to Johnny Cash, and whenever a good Ukrainian
polka was played he would be the first on the dance floor. He would never turn down a good
card game of King Pete, Kaiser or Euchre.
Mike was always there for his family when they needed him.
Mike always thought of Saskatchewan and his parents and now he has come to rest with them.
In lieu of flowers Donations made in memory of Mike to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would
be appreciated by the family.
