Mary (Zrudlo) Liebrecht

Mary Liebrecht passed away the evening of June 16, 2023 at the age of 91 at the Dr. Gerald Zetter Extended Care Center. Mary was born October 10, 1931 to Anne and Peter Zrudlo on a farm near Stornoway, Sask. She received her education at the Angrove School near the family farm until Grade 8.

In 1951, she married Herbert Liebrecht and moved to Winnipeg for a short time. They then moved to Edmonton in 1956 and raised their family of three children, Leslie, Debbie and Rick. They lived there for 10 years. In 1967 they moved back to the family farm just outside of Stornoway. In 1989 they retired from farming and moved into Yorkton.

Mary’s house was always open to friends and neighbours to visit or have a game of cards. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for family and friends.

Mary moved to Edmonton in 2014 upon the passing of Herbert. She lived for a time at the Ukrainian Selo, Kiwanis Lodge and finally the Zetter Center. She was visited frequently by family and for birthdays and special occasions the whole family would gather together and celebrate and visit with mom. They were enjoyable times for mom as we would reminisce of the good times we had spent together.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Peter Zrudlo, husband Herbert, son Leslie and brothers Orest and Walter.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Debbie (Ron) of Beaumont, son Rick (Doris) of Edmonton, grandchildren Sarah, Jennifer (Mike), Michael (Caitlin), Nathan and Thomas, and great grandchildren Jackson, Jakob and Ripley. Nephews and nieces, Perry and family of Winnipeg and Wendy and family, Tracey and family, Dean (Jessie) of Australia.
