It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lyle Douglas Evans on August 18, 2021. Lyle was born in Melville, SK on August 29, 1948 to Arthur and Violet (nee Hughes) Evans. They lived on the family farm in the Glyndwr District. Lyle was the oldest of three children.
Lyle attended school at Glyndwr and Saltcoats Schools, before leaving school at 16 to begin a new passion of driving truck. Lyle married Yvonne [Bonnie] Morgan on May 31, 1969. Soon after they bought their own farm in the Llewelyn District just southwest of the farm where Lyle was raised. Here they raised their four children – Kerri, Lisa, Chris and Leah. Together they worked the farm, and Lyle continued to drive truck in between farm duties – knowing that he was leaving the farm in Bonnie’s capable hands during his absence. Lyle loved farming, and he loved trucking, but he loved his family more than anything, they were his pride and joy. In 2000 Lyle was involved in a semi accident that drastically changed things for him and in 2003 Lyle, Bonnie & Leah made the move to Saltcoats but one thing that didn’t change was the farmer in Lyle – he continued to tinker in his shop in town, and before long he started to amass his collection of old trucks and started to realize his dream of restoring one for himself.
Lyle was a calm, quiet, gentle man, with a zest for life. He enjoyed the quiet ofIn nature, and one of his favourite activities was camping and fishing. The family have many memories of camping trips, rain or shine – but usually rain. Lyle was also a sports fan; he loved all sports but his favourites were anything his grandchildren were playing. Lyle and Bonnie took full advantage of semi-retirement and travelled up and down the highways, supporting their grandchildren in a variety of activities.
Lyle was predeceased by his parents, and his mother-in-law Audrey Morgan. He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife Bonnie, his children Kerri (Derrek), Lisa (Lawrence), Chris (Shona), and Leah (Joel) – grandchildren Haley, Tyler, Hanna, Brooklyn, Zach, Ethan, Wyatt, Zaiden, Reid, Nash, and Rilynn. His sister Sharon Evans and brother Lynton Evans (Carolee), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lyle had a kind and gentle nature, he will be missed by all his family and friends, but his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Lyle may be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
