Lorne Fenske

1928 ~ 2022 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Lorne Fenske Obituary

Lorne was born in Ebenezer, SK on June 28, 1928 the son of William and Christine (nee Wallman) Fenske.  He grew up and received his education in Ebenezer and Yorkton, SK.

He was a member of the “Singing Men” in Ebenezer for a number of years and also played hockey with the senior hockey team.

He moved to Yorkton with his parents and started to work at several places, before he joined Safeway and worked for them for sixteen years, ten of them being manager until May 1, 1965.

He took up farming in the Ebenezer area for six years, plus he took on a salesman’s job at Midtown Motors for three years.  In August of 1969 he started to work for Evergreen Motors as a salesman and later as a Manager for several years, until the dealership closed.  In 1983 he worked as a salesman for Eaton’s until 1988, when they closed the store.  In September of that same year, he started to work for Thorsness Appliance & T.V. Centre as a salesman until his retirement on April 28, 2000.

He belonged to the Rotary Club, U.C.T., and the Elks Lodge, and for over fifty years he belonged to the York Lake Golf & Country Club.

Lorne met Eleanor Timoffee on a blind date in 1953 and they were married on November 19, 1954 at St. Andrew’s United Church in Yorkton.  They both had joined the church before they were married.

Lorne loved to hunt, curl, ski, bowl, paint and travel; he also had an interest in growing lots of flowers and gardening. The activity that he enjoyed the most of all was golf, he was very fortunate to be able to golf in Florida, Arizona, Texas, California, Hawaii, Spain and all over Canada he even traveled to England, North Africa and Alaska.

Lorne was predeceased by his parents William and Christine, his brother Gilbert and sister-in-law Freida.

 

A Graveside Service will be held for Lorne on Monday, July 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Yorkton City Cemetery in Yorkton.

Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Lorne may be made to St. Andrews United Church.
