Ladner was born on February 24th 1940 on the family farm in the Westbrook District to parents Fred and Phelia (Maleschuk) Polowick. He attended the one room schoolhouse at Westbrook until grade eight and then attended high school in Theodore. After graduation he stayed on the farm and worked alongside his parents. He gradually took over the farm operations as his parent’s health started to fail and continued to farm after their passing until he sold the farm and moved to Yorkton to start a new adventure.
Ladner had many passions and hobbies. He loved to travel including adventures to the Rose Bowl Parade, the New York World’s Fair, several trips to Nashville, and especially down to Minot North Dakota to enjoy the Scandinavian entertainment at Norsk Høstfest. Weekends were often spent attending community dances in the Yorkton area. Other evenings you could find him playing cards at various kitchen tables. Throughout his life he took great pleasure in painting nature and animal scenes. His home was filled with his original art including an unfinished painting of a hummingbird left on his easel.
Ladner was predeceased by his parents Fred and Phelia Polowick; and brother in-law Harry Weeks. He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his brother Delmer (Rosemarie); sister Joyce (Glen); nieces Jody, Kelly, and Karen; nephew Dean; great nieces Makenna, Lex, and Alyssa; and great nephew Brayden. Also mourning his passing is his special friend Verna Dobko and her family.
Ladner will be missed by us all.
