In Loving Memory of
Kathleen Mary Bokla (Barry)
November 30, 1928 – April 12, 2025
96 Years
Kathleen passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, surrounded by love.
Kathleen was born in Toronto, Ontario to Jim and Dorothy (Oke) Barry, the oldest of eight children raised on the family farm in Stouffville, Ontario.
She worked many jobs in her lifetime before obtaining her Interprovincial Journeypersons Cook Certification (Red Seal), while working at the Canadian Forces Base in Orcadia, Saskatchewan. Kathleen continued to work at CFB Orcadia until the base closed and then transferred to CFB Kingston, Ontario, where she was employed until she retired and moved back to Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1994.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Mervin, sisters: Pat Cowan, Marg Hannan and Grace Chisholm and brother, Ted Barry.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Samantha (Kelly) Kirschman, granddaughters, Schayla and Sarah, brothers Paul and Bill (Sandy) Barry and sister, Nancy (Bob) Reid, along with numerous nieces and nephews and all of the adopted family members of “Grandma Kay.”
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated staff of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home Wallace Unit for their outstanding care and unwavering love and support during Kathleen’s final years and days. Thank you for appreciating her quick wit and feistiness.
Memorial donations may be made to YDNH Recreation Department to sponsor activities for the residents of Wallace House Memory Care Unit.
Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed
And very dear.
