Julia Kristina Wahl

The family of late Julia Wahl age 87 of Yorkton, sadly announce her passing on August 13, 2021 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. A visitation will be held on Friday August 20th from 1-2 pm from the chapel of Christie's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yorkton.  A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm Kelliher Lutheran Cemetery, Kelliher SK.

Julia Kristina of Kelliher / Yorkton, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on August 13, 2021 at the age of 87.

She was predeceased by her parents Olof Erickson and Maria (Hagen) Erickson, (formerly of Sweden), and her husband Lester Wahl, and her siblings Eric Olof Erickson, Karen Blight and Ellen Faure.

 She attended Garnock School, and then continued her education at Kelliher School.  She often talked fondly about how her Grandpa, Sefanias Hagen, would drive her to school with a horse drawn cutter in the winter.As a young girl she really enjoyed her horses.  And she used to ride on horseback to school in the summer months.

Sadly, early in her young life, she lost her Dad at 9 years old, her Grandfather when she was 12 old, and lost her mother when she was 15 years old

Later, Julia met her husband Lester, and they raised 3 children on a farm south of Kelliher, Gale, Angela and Marv.  Farming life and raising a family kept them very busy.

She made the best homemade bread and Swedish thin bread.  She also loved spending precious time with her family, sitting around the kitchen table enjoying conversation over delicious homemade meals. Julia also enjoyed gardening and listening to music.

Julia stayed on the farm for a time, after the passing of her husband Lester in 1986, but then later moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan.  She did volunteer work for a number years, at the Gift Shop at the Yorkton Hospital, of which she enjoyed very much.

Cherishing her memory are her three children Gale Wahl, Angela Somers, Marv (Jan) Wahl, and her five grandchildren, Travis (Ashley) MacNutt, Austin MacNutt, Justin Somers, Joshua Somers, and Chantelle Christensen, along with three great grandchildren Emma MacNutt, Grady MacNutt and Arianna Ahern. Also cherishing her memory are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Julia had a kind and gentle nature, she will be missed by all her family and friends, and her memory will live on forever in our hearts. We will miss you!
