Hilda Isabel (Burback) Zorn

Hilda Isabel Zorn, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday May 8, 2023 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.  

Hilda was born on July 9, 1931 to Mary and Alex Burback in Saskatchewan’s Togo area. In 1955, Hilda met Andrew (Andy) Pomedli (d. 1973) while he was working in the area installing power infrastructure. The two went on to marry in 1956, living in the Roblin and Togo areas. Following Andrews passing, Hilda married Willard Zorn (d. 2003) in 1984. The two resided in Kamsack and later retired to Yorkton.

Known for her infectious laugh, wonderful cooking, and quick wit, Hilda was known by her friends and family as an outgoing and loving presence. In her spare time Hilda enjoyed tending to her garden, playing bingo, and winning nearly every card game she played. Hilda was also a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.

Hilda is survived by her two children: Clifford Pomedli (wife Janette Pomedli) and Karen Pomedli; four grandchildren: Jenell McCarty (husband Jeremy McCarty), Dallas Pomedli, Heather McVetty, and Alison McVetty; and two great grandchildren: Sydney McCarty and Caris McCarty.

Hilda is also survived by her brothers Donald (Don) Burback and William (Bill) Burback, Mary Kolbeck (Pomedli), Leslie Pomedli, many sister-in- laws and nieces and nephews.

Hilda’s Family would like to thank the staff of the Yorkton District Nursing Home for taking care of their loved one at the end of her journey.

Hilda was cremated on May 9, 2023, and services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton at 11:00 A.M. on June 29, 2023. Further details to follow.
