Hearts Love 33

Helen Beaupre

1952 ~ 2023 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Obituary

Helen Francis Bjornson, born on February 5, 1952, in Estevan, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at the Yorkton Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and cherished memories.

Born to Arthur and Marjorie Bjornson, Helen grew up as the fifth of six remaining children. The loss of her two brothers in infancy was rarely talked about but weighed heavily on the family. Throughout her childhood, Helen and her family experienced the trials of moving frequently, yet these experiences cultivated a deep sense of adaptability and a strong connection between the siblings. Her sister Cherylle and brother Bill remained steadfast companions in her later years.

Helen's journey of love and family began with her marriages to Hector Lizotte and James Langley, through which she welcomed her beloved children Christy, Melanie, Neil, and Andrea. In 1981, her path intertwined with Garnet Beaupre, and together they built a lasting love that continued until his death in 2004. Garnet willingly embraced raising Christy, Melanie, Neil, and Andrea, and the couple also raised Christy's daughters Megan and Miranda as their own.

Professionally, Helen found her calling as a seasoned accountant, dedicating years to H&R Block across various locations in Brooks, Estevan, and Weyburn. Her commitment to her work and her clients earned her respect and admiration from all who knew her. In the early 1990s, Helen returned to school, earning her general accounting degree, and embarking on an 18-year journey at Godin's Chartered Accountants, where she became an integral part of the team during tax seasons.

Settling on an acreage near Jedburgh, Saskatchewan, Helen, and Garnet spent several years “living off the land” before Helen eventually settled into a corner house on Darlington Street in Yorkton, where she began her position as a certified home care worker and continued to live for another twenty-six years. She proved herself a true master of transformation and renovation, qualities that mirrored her own journey of personal growth and self-acceptance. Helen's tenacity to overcome her lifelong struggle with weight exemplified her strength and determination.

Her love for music transcended genres, and her vibrant presence on the dance floor at family weddings was a cherished sight and helped make her a favorite auntie to many of her nieces and nephews. A lover of board games, she could turn a single game of aggravation into hours of endless fun, much to the delight of her children. Her special relationship with her sister Cherylle and brother Bill was enriched by their shared games of Skipbo, another testament to the excitement she brought to games. Her fondness for certain television shows and her penchant for collecting treasures from garage sales captured her unique and endearing character, a trait inherited from her mother.

Helen leaves behind a legacy etched in love, touching the lives of many. She is survived by her children: Melanie (Grady) Penney, Neil (Nicole) Lizotte, Andrea (Douglas) Hudson, Megan (Kyiel) Cholik, Miranda Lizotte, and Edwin Pelletier, who held a special place in her heart. The legacy continues with her grandchildren: Lyric, Harmony, Samuel, Symphony, Randy, Bradley, Hannah, Helenia, Shea, Sammy, Briar, Ava, and Lincoln. Her great-grandchildren, Aurora, Oliver, Helen, Abigail, Jaxon, Salem, and Aurora will carry her spirit forward.

Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garnet; her daughter, Christy; her parents, Arthur, and Marjorie; and her brothers, Donald, Neil, and John.

In honoring Helen's memory, let us celebrate the life she lived, the love she shared, and the indelible impact she made on all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her spirit continue to dance, laugh, and find joy in the hearts of those she touched.
