Geraldine Donna Milbrandt

1939 ~ 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Obituary

Geraldine was born April 17, 1939 in Yorkton to Edwin and Theressa (Huber) Hoffman. When her grandfather was unable to pronounce the Canadian version of Geraldine, her mom promptly began to call her by her middle name of Donna. Donna attended Windsor School, Burke School and graduated from Yorkton Collegiate. She enjoyed school and was quite competitive with other students. She came home from school one day upset that someone in her class had gotten 100% on a math test. When asked what her mark was, she had 100% as well, but she wasn’t able to beat them! After graduation she attended Teacher’s College in Moose Jaw in 1957. Her teaching career started in country schools – Stoney Coulee and Whitesand. She taught at Springside School for many years before retiring in 1988.

Once her teaching career had started, she married the love of her life, Clarence Milbrandt, in 1959. Together they would spend their summers travelling, which she truly enjoyed. She was an avid book reader and could often be found on her chair reading a story book. She was an excellent seamstress and often helped her family with altering clothes. They lived in Springside until the passing of her father in 1996 when they moved to a condo in Yorkton with her mom. She loved her condo and helped with the Condo Board for many years. Donna, Theressa and Clarence spent many mornings going to the Mall for coffee and enjoyed the comradery of their coffee crowd. Much shopping was done and as Tamara cleaned out their condo, she found many duplicate outfits, as grandma and Aunty Donna always bought clothes to match! When Clarence’s health began to deteriorate, she looked after him until his passing and then became caregiver to her mother as well. After the passing of her mother, Donna still continued to go to McDonalds for coffee everyday with her brother Wayne.

Donna accepted the Lord as her Savior as a young child, and she lived her life to serve Him. She was very involved in her church, leading Bible Study groups and helping with kids camps in the summer. She was a happy woman, never discouraged and would pray with anyone who asked.

Donna is predeceased by her husband, Clarence, her parents Edwin & Theressa Hoffman, her sister-in-law Rena Hoffman and brother-in-law Bob Granquist. She leaves to celebrate her memory brother Wayne Hoffman; nieces Tamara (Adrian) Hudy, Melissa Hoffman and nephew Collin (Tanya) Hoffman and foster-sister Joan Granquist, as well as 7 great nieces and 3 great, great nieces.
