Florence Gertrude Bergen

Aged 82, Florence peacefully passed on July 11th 2024 in Yorkton, SK after a long fought battle with dementia.  She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a good friend to many.

Florence was born on Sept 1, 1941 in Canora, SK to Stanley and Bernice Haczkewicz.  She was the 3rd child born out of 9 children.  Florence attended school in Quill Lake, SK and graduated high school in Hudson Bay, SK.  She did not pursue any secondary education.

Florence met her late husband, Gordon Bergen, in Erwood, SK and were married on Sept 2, 1961.  They began their new life together in Hudson Bay and had 3 children.  Florence had many jobs throughout her life, even moving to Canora, SK in 1983 along the way.  In Canora, Florence kept busy; she tutored English to the new-coming Chinese population; and she enjoyed selling Avon products which she did for many years.

Florence Enjoyed her card games and was an avid baker and gardener.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting.  In her downtime Florence would go camping frequently and take road trips with her family.  Anyone who knew Florence knew that she was loving, caring and kind.  Her house was always filled with music from the radio, and laughter from those within.  She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, along with other family members and friends. 

Florence is survived by her sister Delores Haczkewicz, and Terry (Errol) Haczkewicz-Ring; daughters Andrea (John) Adams, Antoinette Bergen & her partner Rob Krushelniski, and Alyssa Bergen & her partner Denis Perron; grandchildren Melissa Syms, Robin Adams, Landon Ross, Daylia Lukey, and Zennia Lukey; great-grandson Gavyn Syms; and of course her large collection of salt & pepper shakers.

Florence is predeceased by her parents Stanley and Bernice Haczkewicz; husband Gordon Bergen; siblings Isobel Casement, Joseph Haczkewicz, Mary Haczkewicz, Wonda Burbeck, Anthony Haczkewicz, Debra Haczkewicz; and her granddaughter Karrington Ross.  May they reunite again.
