Esther Theresa Hoffman

Esther Theresa Hoffman passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the age of 96 years.

Esther was born on Oct 6 1924 in Aleksandrya, Poland and arrived in Canada at the age of 2 yrs old with her father Richard Retz and her mother Lydia Heckert where they settled and established a family farm just north of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Esther grew up on the family farm and worked driving the tractor and doing the daily chores on the farm. She loved horses and was an accomplished rider often taking her horse to school. She married the love of her life Walter Lloyd Hoffman on July 11, 1948 in Ebenezer Saskatchewan. Their happy union produced 8 children: Howard, Dale, Randy, Terry, Valla, Shona, Sheldon and Melanie. Esther excelled at everything she put her hand to and was a fantastic cook and baker ( still to this day I have not tasted a better cinnamon bun than the one's my mom made.) She often knitted slippers for her family and friends, made numerous tea towels with embroided patterns of flowers and butterflies. Kept and maintained a vegetable garden, she was known for her beautiful flower gardens she planted at home and at the York lake golf course where she was a member and avid golfer winning many club championships and tournaments through out the years that she played the game. Esther brought home many trophies and was the winner of the annual Hoffman family golf tournament on more than one occassion. Esther and Lloyd enjoyed travelling whether it was out to our Aunt Ella's farm at Ebenezer for a visit or on many occassions packing up all the children and taking a trip to British Columbia, Ontario or North Dakota to visit family members and cousins. Later on in life they traveled with close family friends, Edwin and Theresa Hoffman, Arthur and Frances Fritzke and Art and Myrtel Fiege to places in Canada like the Okanagan in B.C, Florida, Oklahoma and Texas in the U.S. and Reynosa Mexico.  Esther enjoyed going to the mall and meeting her friends Donna Milbrandt(Hoffman) and Angela Sass(Tretiak) for toast and coffee followed by a leisurely walk around the mall with some shopping and chatting with friends that they would meet. Esther was a devoted Christian she enjoyed attending church and going to the church functions with her friends and family she enjoyed watching Faith To Live By, Church of The Rock and John Hagee Ministries on television and often read the Bible and Our Daily Bread booklets. 
 Esther passed away peacefully at home on Oct 5th 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. The Lord welcomed her into his embrace to celebrate her 97th Birthday in Heaven. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
Esther is now reunited with the love of her life Walter Lloyd Hoffman and her loving son Terry Kevin Hoffman in their Heavenly home.
