Emilie 'Emily' Rosie (Ulmer) Rathgeber

Emilie (Emily) Rosie Rathgeber passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024 at 7:09 pm, at the age of 97 years of age.

Emily was born on August 20, 1926 at Goodeve, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Peter and Dorothy Ulmer.

She married her beloved husband, Martin Rathgeber, on December 16, 1943. 

Emily was predeceased by her loving husband Martin, daughter Leona, son-in-law Bill, great-grandson Braeden, daughter-in-law Shirley, Father Peter, Mother Dorothy, sisters and brothers Katie, Christine, Lizzie, Mary, Mollie, Jean, Louis, Jack, Peter and Matt.

Emily farmed with her husband Martin until 1962, when they moved to Churchbridge, Saskatchewan.  She and her husband owned and operated Martin’s Barbershop and Billiards which they operated for 23 years.  In addition, Emily was a homemaker and waitress during her lifetime. Emily was a volunteer and participated in walks for charity. She enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing and camping, and spent much time crocheting. She donated many slippers to nursing homes over the years, and all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed the afghans and slippers she made for them.

Emily leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: her children Bob Rathgeber (Lynette) of Sparwood BC, Darlene Knutt (Steve) of Edmonton, AB, and Randy Rathgeber (Darlene) of Sherwood Park, AB.  She also leaves her grandchildren: Shelly Choptuik (Joey), Marty Kittler (Shelly), Carmel Kittler (Shaun), Kent Rathgeber, Tammy Rathgeber, Chastity Plamondon (Shane), Kim Knutt, Kody Rathgeber (Lola), Caitlin Rathgeber (Kyle); her great-grandchildren: Cash, Joshua, Louden, Tanner, Sarah, Spencer, Braeden, Coban, Naiya, C.J. and great-great-grandchildren: Ell, Riddick, Phoenix, Atlas, Ellawynn, Rori, and Violet.
