It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Edna Ironstand of Yorkton, SK formerly of Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation on June 15, 2021 at the age of 84 years.
“Our Matriarch”
Mom was born and raised on Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation. She was the oldest child of Joseph and Elizabeth Shingoose.
In 1961, she married Joseph Ironstand. They remained mostly in Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation until 1984, when they moved their family to Yorkton, SK. This remained their home until they both went on their journey to the spirit world. Some of her favorite things to do were play bingo, slots and kick butt at Gin Rummy and Cribbage. She was always teasing the ones she was close to with her swear words. Many called her “that crazy old lady”.
Mom is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ironstand; her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Shingoose; brothers, William, Fred, Eddie, James, Wayne; sisters, Shirley, Leona, Edith, Wanda; grandchildren, Lawrence, Chantelle and Brendan.
She is survived by, son, Patrick; daughters, Lillian (Andrew), Doreen (Tony) and Evangeline; sister, Marlene (Philip); brothers, Gary and Gordon; sister-in-law, Mary (Topsy) Flett and numerous nephews and nieces. She was also blessed with great and great great grandchildren and "sons" Darwyn, Mike, Warren, Stan, late Desi and Danny Boy.
“You earned your rest, Mom”
A traditional wake was held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 4:00 PM at the Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation Hall with the service following on Friday, June 18, 2021 with Pastor Warren Ironstand officiating. Interment following at Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation Cemetery.
