Dorothy ‘Dot’ Leonhardt of Theodore Saskatchewan, was born on Christmas day at the family farm near Theodore in 1935. She passed away peacefully at the Theodore Health Centre after a short illness on August 17, 2021with family at her side.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Neil (Sandra), her nephews and nieces: Colin (Alison), Carol Ann (Raymond), Ian, Timothy, Christine (Ian), Shaun (Tracy) and Tracy (Brad) , her great nieces and nephews: Alicia, Katelyn (Mick), Jenna (Brad), Danica (Matty), and Joshua, and her great great niece and nephew Myla and Braxton. She was predeceased by her sister Lyla, her Father Edward, her Mother Martha, brother-in-law Gerald Savage, sister Avona Savage, and her special friend Paul Shlahetka.

She leaves to mourn many cousins and friends.

Dorothy lived most of her life on the family farm in Theodore and attended the Theodore School. In 1971, she moved into the town of Theodore with her parents. This opened many doors of opportunity for her to share her gifts of service. She baby sat a number of children of working parents. She was always ready to help with housecleaning, baking and participating as a volunteer for many community activities. Her sense of humour and joyful attitude was expressed by wearing costumes in parades, in school reunions and in the local nursing home. One of her greatest satisfactions was volunteering at the Theodore Health Centre. She lovingly cared for her mother and many others during that time.

It was also during this time of volunteering that she met her special friend Paul. They enjoyed dances, touring the local area far and wide to auctions, garage sales and dinners out. Many hours and days were spent together at Paul's farm gardening, butchering, and sausage making. During calving and harvest she was Paul’s right-hand girl. Unfortunately, these last few years were spent separated in two different nursing homes. This was difficult for both of them.

Dorothy has crafted many afghans, baby blankets, hot pot stands, doily’s, all being meticulously crocheted or embroidered. Every family member will cherish her generous gifts, the last one being a piggy bank sent to her great great niece Myla just weeks before her passing.

Sadly, she was not able to complete a crocheted baby blanket for a dear friend before she passed. Dorothy was always thinking of ways to give gifts to brighten others days.

Dorothy had an amazing memory, she knew all her family and extended family's birthdays, anniversaries and special events. Whenever a family member needed information, she was the go-to person. She was the glue that kept the family connected.

Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
