Dawn Dressler (née Potts) was born in Didsbury, AB on January 4, 1943, to Edmund 'Ted' and Ada Potts (née Peart). She grew up alongside her siblings Richard, Lucy, and Kevin. In 1953, the family moved to Churchbridge, SK where Dawn spent the majority of her life rooted in community, family, and service. 

In 1964, Dawn married Francis Dressler, with whom they shared two children; Colin (1964-2010) and Michelle (born 1974). Though Dawn and Francis later divorced, they remained connected through their family. 

Dawn was known for her remarkable green thumb. Her yard was always filled with vibrant flowers, flowing shrubs, fruit trees, and a thriving vegetable garden — each season reflecting her care, patience, and love of growing things. Gardening was her craft. 

Throughout her life, Dawn was deeply involved in her community. Her contributions included volunteer work in the skating rink kitchen, providing personal tax services, serving as a member of the Churchbridge Lioness Club, and working as an office assistant for the RM of Churchbridge. She played a key role in organizing the Churchbridge Centennial Celebration in 2005. Dawn also served as Administrator and Council Member for the Town of Churchbridge for 21 years, followed by two years as acting Administrator for the Town of Stockholm before fully retiring in 2005.
Dawn was known for her unwavering commitment to fairness, her respect for rules and guidelines, and her ability to remain composed even in challenging situations. Level‑headed, factual, and steadfast, she was a tough and principled woman who stood her ground and advocated for what was right. Yet beneath that strength was a dry humor and quick wit that could disarm a room, paired with a laugh that arrived exactly when you needed it most. She was, in every sense, one of a kind—a woman whose integrity, resilience, wisdom and quiet charm left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. She remained a fighter to the very end.
