The family of the late David Howitt age 83 beloved husband of Shirley Howitt of Bredenbury sadly announce his passing on October 31, 2021 at St. Anthony's Hospital Esterhazy SK.

Howitt, David Gwynn.  February 8th, 1938 – October 31st, 2021.

The family of the late David Howitt age 83 years are sad to announce his passing on October 31, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Hospital Esterhazy, SK.

David was born on February 8, 1938 in Saltcoats SK, one of three boys born to Charles and Lillie (Humphreys) Howitt. He lived on the family farm for a number of years, and then moved to Wynyard where he attended high school and later while in his 20’s and early 30’s he owned his own construction company there.

After leaving Wynyard he moved to Regina where he met the love of his life Shirley, they married on June 3, 1974 in Regina, SK.

In 1980 David started farming at the family homestead, the rest of his family followed in 1983.  He spent the rest of his time farming, enjoying time with his grandkids, and loved to build and play the fiddle.

David is predeceased by his parents Charles and Lillie Howitt and by his sister in law Diane. David passed away on October 31, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Hospital Esterhazy SK.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 47 years Shirley their children Brent Darjes, Riel Darjes, Lorelei (Jeff) Roberts, Gwynn (Tera) Howitt, and Scott Howitt. He is an adored Grandpa to Benjamin, Brandon (Charis), Bethany (Brandon), Payton (Ryan), Ethan, Hannah and Wyatt; and Great -Grandpa to Anderson and Kenton. He also leaves behind his brothers Merv (Barbara) and Al (Shirley) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral honoring David’s life was held at Christie’s Funeral Home and Crematorium on Saturday November 6, 2021 with Rev. Jeffrey Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Llewellyn Cemetery R.M. of Saltcoats.

Should friends so desire donations in David’s name may be made to the Arthritis Society as a token of remembrance.

A memorial service took place on Saturday November 6, 2021 from the Chapel of Christie's Funeral Home and Crematorium in Yorkton SK with Rev. Jeffery Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Llewellyn Cemetery.

Should friends desire, donations in memory of David may be made to the Arthritis Society as tokens of remembrance.
