Dallas Wayne Smith was born to Henry and Lillian Smith on July 11, 1939. He was the younger brother to Donald. He lived his life on the family farm on the corner of 4 RM’s. Dallas attended a small country school until he completed grade 8. Then he boarded in Langenburg so he could attend high school and also took some correspondence.
Dallas farmed with his father and took on more of the workload until he assumed all responsibilities allowing his parents to retire to Langenburg. He loved his animals, to create by building, and the great outdoors.
On August 10, 1974, he married Marlene and became an instant dad to three children, Mona, Ryan and Donna. He remodeled the farmhouse and added a living room and new basement to the west side of the house. It was the center of many gatherings for family and friends. The farm was a popular spot for hayrides, wiener roasts and Bible studies. He built a meat shack which became a favorite hangout because there was always a piece of sausage to sample. With the help of his neighbor Pat Field, they made the best summer sausage known to mankind.
Dallas was an extravert that just loved to talk and get to know people. On vacations he would talk to new people and end with “see you again” no matter where he was in the world. Dallas loved his Lord and Savior and often shared his faith with others. During a trip to Israel, he was baptized in the Jordan River. Dallas and Marlene retired in Langenburg but he continued to make trips to the farm to care for his animals. He remodeled the house in town where he was able to continue his love for building.
Four years ago, Dallas moved to the care home where his health continued to decline. On March 11, 2026 he passed away leaving to mourn his wife, Marlene; Children Ryan (Hazel) and Donna (Jerome); Grandchildren Brianna, Jonathan (Vivian), Nathaniel, Janelle, Shaun, Caitlin, Kristen (Ezra), Erich (Rianna), Julie-Anne (Raymond); Great-grandchildren Colton, Tyler, Cailee, Skyler, Roman, Serena, and Finnley.
Dallas was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Lillian; brother Donald; and daughter Mona.
