Calvin grew up on the family farm near Hubbard SK. He was the oldest of four children and attended Hubbard and Ituna schools; at the age of sixteen his mom moved Calvin and his three siblings Valerie, Timothy, and Patrick to Yorkton, he completed his schooling at the Yorkton Regional High School.
In 1975 Calvin met Karen Boychuk they were united in marriage on July 16, 1983 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters Christina and Liana he loved them very much and was proud of the women that they had become
Calvin was a very honest, dedicated and hardworking man; who had many jobs throughout his life. Many of these jobs involved driving and being the owner and operator of such jobs as a taxi driver, tow truck driver, Fast Freddie’s, Pepsi, Yorkton This Week newspaper and DHL/ Loomis Courier services. Along with some mechanics, Dickie Dee Ice-cream franchise, a Lifestyles and Amway sales rep. He always had some project or ‘get rich quick’ idea on the go. He was also the unofficial COP (Calvin on Patrol) and Robin’s Donuts security.
Even though he worked long hours he always enjoyed his customers, taking the time to tell them stories and to stop and pet their animals. When someone would ask how he was doing he would say “I’m overworked and underpaid” but he was always willing to help anyone out if he could.
Calvin had many hobbies, he was very smart and could take things apart and put them back together even better than before. At a young age he became interested in motorcycles. When he was fourteen years old he made a driveable motorbike, by taking the motor off his dad’s grain auger. He also loved planes and anything to do with them. He attempted to obtain a private pilot’s license but do to heart issues he could not pass the medical. He then took a serious interest on remote control airplanes. With his friends they started a remote control flying club which then took up many of his free hours when he wasn’t working.
He enjoyed what he liked to call ‘Lozinski” camping which was usually at York Lake where the family picked chokecherries and Calvin made several trips to Robin’s Donuts for coffee daily. Calvin was a true genuine character who always had a story to tell, a funny comeback or an inappropriate joke.
We will wish him very much.
