Albert Nodge Obituary

The family of the late Albert Nodge age 93 (formally of Yorkton) sadly announce his passing on Friday November 6, 2020 at the Preeceville Health Centre.  A private family service will be held on Friday November 13th, 2020 from the chapel of Christie's Funeral Home and Crematorium with Shelly Morris officiating. Interment to follow in the Yorkton City Cemetery.

Albert Nodge, age 93 passed away peacefully November 6, 2020 in the Preeceville Care Home, in Preeceville, SK.

Dad was born September 11, 1927 on the family farm west of Otthon, SK.  He was the second son of Stephen and Susanna Nagy.

Dad spent some time working in British Columbia when he was younger, but returned home to Saskatchewan.  He started his career as a professional truck driver for Yorkton Cartage and then Blaze Transport until 1974, when mom and dad took over Blaze Transport and renamed it Nodge Transport.  They operated their company until 1990, when their son and daughter-in-law took it over.

Dad met mom in 1950 and they were married September 15, 1951.  They had a son Glen in 1952 and a daughter Gail in 1958.

They built their own home on Sixth Avenue in 1951 and lived there until mom’s passing in 2019. Dad continued to live at home until being admitted to the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on October 4, 2020, he spent several weeks there and in the Preeceville Care Home until his passing.

Dad was a quiet man, with a sense of humour and great patience.  He cared for mom when she was diagnosed with dementia, until she was admitted to the Skinner Memory Unit in June of 2018.  The love that dad showed mom was that of fairy tales, but dad showed us all that their love for one another was a reality.

Dad took great pride in his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  The love in his eyes and smile on his face lit up the room when he was with them.

Dad was predeceased by his wife and soul-mate Alice in 2019, his parents, three brothers Leslie, Fred and Ron; and his sister Esther.

Dad leaves to celebrate his life, his son Glen (Shelley) and his daughter Gail (Orville).  He will be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren David (Blaire), Andrea (Michael) and Kari (Jay) as well as his three great-grandchildren Valerie, Benjamin, and Ava Rose; brother -in-law John and sisters-in-law Arvilla, Esther, Sharon, Doris, Emily, and Olga.

Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CNIB or the Canadian Cancer Society.

As long as the sun shines...

The wind blows...

The rain falls...

You will live on inside of me forever,

For that is all my heart knows.
