Funeral Services for the late Minnie Adam of the Lakeside Manor Care Home and formerly of the Wroxton District, beloved wife of the late John Adam, will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christies Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Yorkton City Cemetery.Friends so wishing may make donations in Minnie's name to the Lakeside Manor Care Home - Gazebo Fund as tokens of remembrance.Minnie Adam was born on December 22, 1927 in a village in the Two Creeks district, northeast of Wroxton, Saskatchewan. She was the second child of William and Mary Dubynk. At the age of 16, Minnie married John Adam and this was the beginning of 56 years of wonderful marriage. While farming near Wroxton, Minnie and John spent three winters working in Toronto, from 1947 to 1949. After 1949 they decided that city life was not for them, so they moved back to Saskatchewan. In 1951 they moved to a bare piece of land five miles east of Yorkton to start a new life. Minnie and John enjoyed great times over the years, celebrating social events with friends, neighbours and relatives. Minnie also enjoyed the sport of curling. She curled in many curling competitions over the years and passed her passion for the sport on to her children. Minnie's health started to deteriorate in the beginning of 2010. She passed away on April 18 at Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats. She was 82 years old. Minnie was predeceased by her husband, John, her father, William Dubnyk, her mother, Mary and brother, Pete. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her sons, Ron (Lynn) Adam of Calgary, Ed (June) Adam of Regina and Gerry (Leslie) Adam of Yorkton; her daughter, Judy (Ken) Bandura of Edmonton; grandsons, Jonathan and Christopher Adam of Calgary; granddaughter, Hannah and grandson, Justin of Yorkton; as well as other relatives and many good friends.
