Funeral Services for the late Jean Ford of Yorkton will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Christie's Funeral Home. The interment will follow in the Yorkton City Cemetery.Friends so wishing may make donations in Jean's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of their choice as tokens of remembrance.Kathleen Jean Ford, ""Jean"" as she was know to her friends, was born on June 18, 1918 in the Yorkton area, the daughter of Duncan and Laura McPherson. She passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 91 years of age. Jean received her education in the Rosemount and Armstrong Schools. In the fall of 1938, she was united in marriage to Arthur Ford of Springside, Saskatchewan. They began their married life on a farm in the Willowbrook district until the fall of 1941. They then bought a farm east of Yorkton, where they resided until they moved into the city of Yorkton in 1980. Jean's family was very important to her and she loved being with them, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid gardener, Jean especially loved her flowers. Her many hobbies included knitting, crocheting, bowling, fishing, playing cards, cribbage and curling in her younger years. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Arthur in 1999, her parents, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Annabelle and Charles Owen, Nell and Wilfred Gleave, brother-in-law, Robert Ford and her brother, James in Italy during WWII. Jean leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her daughter, Joyce (Wally) Schmidt and their children, Judith (Kevin) Tomporowski of Brandon, MB and their children, Jason, Kathleen and Megan, Ron (Wanda) Schmidt of Saskatoon, SK and their children, James (Sarah) Schmidt, Ryan (Aliesha) Schmidt, Ken (Leslie) Schmidt of Saskatoon and their children, Laura (Warren) Richelhoff, Alex, Jordan and Justin, Dean (Karen) Schmidt of Calgary, AB and their children, Rebecca and Colton, Cheryl (Jeff) Prediger of Saskatoon, SK and their children, Ashley and Kayla; her son, Nelson (Margret) and their children, all of Yorkton, SK, Leonard (Lori) and their children, Dustin and Trisha, Richard (Livia) and their children, Sean and Jaelyn, Grant, Glen (Cindy) and their children, Jordan and Cameron. Also a sister, Mae Ford, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
