Propp, Gottfried “Scotty” - We celebrate the life and mourn the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who passed away at the Canora Gateway Lodge. He was born at home on the family farm, one mile south of Rhein, SK, to George and Margaret (Zottnick) Propp, being the eighth of nine living children.
He worked on the family farm until he married Molly (Weber) on April 28, 1946 at Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein, SK. They were blessed with a daughter, Sharon Paulette. The family moved to Yorkton, house and all, in 1952. Gottfried worked in construction and eventually as a commercial gas fitter.
Though of a quiet nature, he enjoyed being with people and doing things with and for people. Scotty and Molly were a great team enjoying building, painting, decorating, reupholstering, gardening and entertaining – you name it and they could probably do it. They were also privileged to be able to travel together, and built a cottage at Madge Lake where many hours were spent with family and friends.
Gottfried was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret, brothers John, Victor, David, Jack and George Propp, sisters Lydia Hilderman, Selma Yobb, and Ida Propp in childhood.
Gottfried is survived by his wife of 72 years, Molly, daughter Paulette Namaka, grandson Scott Namaka and his partner Shyla Small, great granddaughter Ryleigh Jade Namaka, sister Martha Propp and many nieces and nephews.
