David Nehring

Dave Nehring was born on December 7th, 1939 in Yorkton Saskatchewan to Ferdinand and Minnie Nehring and was predeceased by his parents and his sister Audry. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on June 8th, 2019 in the late afternoon. He leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life his beloved wife Vi; his daughter Candace and her husband Brennan Enslen; his step-sons Brian Janzen and his wife Pattie, Darrell Janzen and his wife Grace, and Greg Janzen and his wife Cheryl; his step-daughters Laurie and her husband Marv Brietkreuz; and Melissa Janzen; a multitude of grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; one sister June and her husband Leith Pinder; and many cousins.

Dave very much enjoyed living on his family farm where he grew up. Most of those days were spent working the field, tending to his cattle, tinkering in his shop and a lot of his evenings were spent around the table playing ROOK with his family. 

When he retired from farming he and his wife Vi moved in to the town of Springside and lived there together until his health required full time care. He lived his last couple of years in Lakeside Manor in Saltcoats joking and laughing with the staff that cared for him. There he was able once again to sit by the waters edge and enjoy God’s creation that he loved so much.

Dave was a farmer at heart but he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking long country drives, among many other things. He was strong, creative, generous and loved to play pranks and joke around. His spontaneity was contagious and he loved to head down to Good Spirit for midnight swims in the lake and bring along anyone who would join him. He loved spending time in all of creation and had a soft spot in his heart for all creatures big and small. 

He will be deeply missed but we know the Lord was merciful in taking him home where he will spend eternity in the glory of our God All Mighty. We celebrate his life and will remember him always.

A funeral service washeld for David on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Springside Baptist Church in Springside.
