Amy Patricia Hoven
“The song is ended but the melody lingers on… “
Irving Berlin
Our family sadly said so long to our beautiful, young, and caring mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018, when Amy Patricia Hoven passed valiantly and peacefully into eternal life at Jowsey House, Yorkton, SK.
On June 7th, 1981, Amy entered this world at Baie Verte, NL, the place she dearly and forever called “home”. Amy was the fourth of six children born to Anna and Lar Hoven, a family she loved and cherished in her heart. She also loved her hometown, and although she moved ‘out west’ at an early age, fondly returned whenever the occasion arose.
On August 4th, 2007, Amy married her best friend, a Prairie boy, Christopher Bogdan in Regina, SK, and the following year received her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan. She immediately began her nursing career with empathy, zeal, and professionalism.
To make life even more interesting and engaging, Amy and Chris had their first child, Maggie, on April 27th, 2011, and two years later, Jonah, on October 3rd, 2013. Her children were her greatest treasures while she continued her nursing profession, now in Weyburn, SK.
In 2014, the family moved to Yorkton, SK, where Amy and Chris continued to pursue their careers, raise their children, and embrace their new community. In 2016, Amy began her battle with breast cancer. 2017 brought a setback with news of metastases, followed by similar news in 2018. Amy courageously battled these metastases, which would terminate her career and ultimately, life itself.
Amy is survived by her husband, Christopher Bogdan, and children, Maggie and Jonah; her parents, Anna and Lar Hoven; her mother-in-law, Janet Bogdan; her brothers, Paul (Deborah) Hoven, Dwayne (Catherine) Hoven, and James(Jillian) Hoven; her sisters, Susan (Boyd) Penney, and Maria (Marty) Meiers; her sister-in-law, Nicole(Trevor) Peterson; her 11 nieces and nephews; her aunts, uncles, many, more relatives, and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life for our dear Amy will be held at St. Gerard Parish,125 3 Ave. N, Yorkton, SK, on Monday, November 12th, 2018 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. Funeral Mass and interment will take place in Baie Verte, NL, at a date to be announced. Flowers gratefully accepted; or, donations may be made in Amy’s memory to her children, Maggie and Jonah.
