Katie Baraniuk

November 6, 1923 ~ November 25, 2020 (age 97)

The family of the late Katie Baraniuk sadly announce her passing.

Katie Baraniuk (née Siry) from Sheho, SK, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2020, at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her parents William and Natalia Siry, husband Bill,  brothers Nick, Mike, Peter, Eli and sister Anne. Katie is survived and lovingly remembered by her sons Lorne, Eugene (Mildred), Robert, Billie (Iona) and Duane, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers John, Alex, Bill (Helen), Steve (Angie), Matt (Mary) and sister Mary Rusnak. Katie and her husband farmed for many years before moving to Sheho. She worked tirelessly on the farm, tending to the animals and large garden, while remaining an attentive and loving mother to her five sons. Katie enjoyed showing her devotion to friends and family through preparing and sharing delicious meals and baking - arguably the best perogies in Saskatchewan! Katie was a Bingo enthusiast and a regular at all the games in Sheho - joining her at the Bingo hall is a cherished memory of her grandchildren. Katie also took pride in her involvement with the Seniors Club in Sheho for many years. Despite many hardships throughout her life, Katie lived with love, patience, and a keen sense of humour. The family would like to thank staff at Saint Peter’s Hospital and St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, SK, for their compassion and caring shown to Katie as she reached the end of her journey. Due to COVID-19 restrictions Katie will be laid to rest at a future date.
